Did you catch us giving one lucky couple a personal masterclass in pegging on Channel 5’s The Lesbian Guide to Straight Sex? If you didn’t see the show, the premise was lesbians helping heterosexual couples have better sex. It's what we do, babes!
So, what the heck is pegging?
Well, pegging is when a woman anally penetrates a male partner with the help of a strap-on. Although the act has actually been around a long time, it has been popularised recently by TV shows like Broad City and even Deadpool has got in on the act
What’s in it for me?
Those of us without penises don’t often get the chance to penetrate our partners with more than just our fingers. Wearing a strap-on gives us the chance to experience this which can be really empowering. Whether you have FemDom fantasies or just want to switch things up in the bedroom, pegging allows for some fun role reversal between you and your partner.
It can also be really pleasurable for him. The prostate has been touted as the male G-Spot and can lead to some very different orgasms to what he may be used to.
Where do we start?
By talking! As fun as surprising your partner with your new harness and dildo sounds, the chances of hot sex following are pretty slim! (Unless you’ve already explored anal play and know your partner wants to take it further. In which case, please don’t let us stop you!!)
If you haven’t tried any anal play, don’t jump straight into pegging. Get to know your partner’s inner sanctum with your fingers, lube and some small anal toys first.
Ok, we are ready to get pegging!
The first thing you are going to need is a good quality lubricant. The butt is not self-lubricating like the vagina, so lube really is a must.
We recommend using a thick, plain, water-based lubricant such as our Pure Plus. The thicker, gel-like consistency will provide a little more cushioning than standard water-based lubricants.
Never use a numbing lubricant. Pain is your body’s way of telling you something is going wrong. Anal sex shouldn’t be painful. If it is, stop and reassess what you are doing.
Choosing your perfect pegging harness
At Sh!, we have a range of harnesses from slip-on, underwear styles to the adjustable strapped harnesses with sexy corset style backs. We even do a harness to go around your thigh! We have harnesses in a range of colours and materials. Our leather and rubber harnesses are handmade by our incredible team on the premises, so you can be assured you are getting a great quality harness.
Whilst many styles are adjustable, we don’t do one-size-fits-all harness. Having a harness you feel comfortable in is really important so getting the fit right is key; you won’t feel sexy if you are having your circulation cut off by something too small or fighting to keep something too big up.
In terms of choosing the right style of harness, you should go for what you like the look of and what you think will make you feel sexy or powerful.
Underwear styles are the easiest to put on (and take off) and often look the least intimidating. However, they are not adjustable either in terms of the size of the item or the size of the O-ring which holds the dildo. This may limit your choice in dildos a little bit.
Strap-style harnesses look a little more complicated to take on and off, although once you are used to them, they are a doddle. They are fully adjustable to fit your size and have interchangeable O-rings, meaning not only can you use larger dildos when you are ready, but you can also hold smaller dildos more securely.
Here are our recommendations for your first pegging harness:
Our 2-Strap Leather Harnesses are super-popular with customers all over the world. Handmade in our workshop, they fit a range of sizes (XS - XXL) and come in a selection of beautiful colours.
The leather is buttery soft and looked after with care, you should be able to enjoy your Sh! strap-on harness for many happy years.
The 2-strap harnesses may look a little complicated at first glance but once you get used to your harness, it's just like stepping into a pair of trousers (albeit without legs).
Our Thong-style Harnesses are easy to slip on and slip off, and can be worn under regular clothes if you like to be ready for play at a moment's notice...
This harness come in XS, S, M and L sizes, and as with all our handmade harnesses, there is a range of colours to choose from.
We recommend sticking to small-to-medium sized dildos when using this style harness; a heavier dildo will pull forward, leaving you with a downward-angled tool.
Choosing your pegging dildo
It can be a good idea to get your partner involved with choosing the dildo, as it is them that is going to be on the receiving end! Generally, we would say don’t be put off by the length of a toy, as you don’t have to insert the whole length; girth is far more important here.
Like our harnesses, we handmake our dildos in our amazing dildo lab. Our dildos are all made from silicone, the cashmere of sex toy materials. Non-porous, non-toxic, long-lasting and a good mix of squishy and firm (yes, that’s a thing), we love silicone as a sex toy material and are sure you will too.
We have a large range of sizes, styles, and colours so we are sure you’ll find a dildo that will work for you. All of our dildos also have our signature heart base meaning they are all harness compatible and we can even make vibrating versions of them! How cool is that?
Here, check out our fave dildos for pegging:
Wirly 2 is our most popular anal dildo, thanks to its perfect proportions and sensual ribbing along the shaft. It measures 5.25 inch x 1 inch diameter and comes in a variety of colours. You can also choose a vibrating version if you both fancy a buzz during play; this is extra useful for clits as most need a bit of extra stimulation to get off...
The ribbing offers extra sensation during use, and if it feels a little intense to start with, you might like to cover the dildo with a smooth condom. This also helps keep your dildo clean.
Cupid 3 is great for the more advanced anal player looking to get into pegging with a strap-on. Smoothly curvaceous, Cupid measures 6 inch x 1.5 inch and feels heavenly when covered with a generous layer of the all-important anal lube.
If you like to add a little extra sauce to your dildo, try covering it with a dotted or ribbed condom for extra stimulation. Or, for those who love nothing better than vibrating toy, upgrade your dildo to a Thrill-Dil, the same shape & size dildo, but with a clever bullet vibe hidden in the base!

Feeling overwhelmed by too much equipment?
Want to keep it simpler? Why not go for a strapless strap-on? These work by the wearer slipping the smaller part inside their vagina and using the PC (aka kegal) muscle to hold the toy in place.
Although this can take more work than a harness and dildo combo, as your brain has to focus on keeping the toy in and penetrating your partner, it may help the wearer feel more attached and connected to the toy penetrating their partner.
Movements need to slight with a strapless - no wild thrusting, but close, intimate grinding together, otherwise it will fall out of both partners with frustrating frequency.
The best position for strapless pegging is seated, with the penetrated partner on top.
