GOOD TO KNOW

Pleasure Gel Questions, Answered

What people ask about pleasure and orgasm gels.

Is pleasure gel the same as lubricant?

No. Although some pleasure gels provide a little slip, they're designed for a different purpose. Pleasure gels contain ingredients that create warming, cooling or tingling sensations to increase sensitivity and enhance arousal. Lube delivers lots of moisture, whilst pleasure gels bring heightened arousal and sensitivity to the party. Together, they offer a double-whammy of pleasure!

How do you use pleasure gel?
  • Add a drop or two to the area it is intended for:
  • Clit-stimulating products on the external part of your clit.
  • G-spot stimulating gelsg go inside, approximately where your G-Spot is.
  • Massage the gel into the tissue and feel the blood rushing to the area, making it swell and increasing sensitivity.
  • Allow a minute or two for the ingredients to take effect before adding further stimulation. Start with a little - you can always apply more if needed.
What does a pleasure gel feel like?

That depends on the formula. Some create a gentle warming sensation, while others produce cooling, tingling or increased sensitivity. The feeling should be pleasurable and gradually build as arousal increases, rather than feel uncomfortable or overpowering.

Will a pleasure gel make me orgasm?

Pleasure gels are designed to enhance sensation, not guarantee orgasm. They work best alongside arousal, touch and the right kind of stimulation for your body. Many people find they make orgasms easier or more intense, while others simply enjoy the extra sensations they provide.

Can I use pleasure gel with sex toys and condoms?

Usually, yes. Most water-based pleasure gels are compatible with body-safe silicone, glass and metal toys, as well as latex condoms. However, formulations vary, so it's always worth checking the individual product instructions before use.

Can pleasure gels cause side effects?

Most people use pleasure gels without any problems, but everyone's skin is different. If you have particularly sensitive skin, it's worth patch testing first. Stop using the product if you experience irritation or discomfort, and always follow the manufacturer's directions

Can L-Arginine trigger cold sores?

Possibly. Some pleasure gels, including several clitoral arousal gels, contain L-Arginine, an amino acid that increases blood flow to enhance sensitivity. If you're prone to cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), L-Arginine may trigger an outbreak in some people. If this applies to you, choose an L-Arginine-free formula or speak to your healthcare professional if you're unsure.
