Join us for an amusing, revealing and insightful evening with Curator of Sex, Sarah Forbes, and a peek into her book Sex in the Museum: My Unlikely Career at New York's Most Provocative Museum.
Ever wanted to know what it would be like to work in a Museum of Sex?
Come meet Sarah Forbes, aka "the Curator of Sex," an anthropologist turned curator-writer, as she discusses her decade long adventure at New York's Museum of Sex.
Dubbed a "sexpert supreme" by Cosmopolitan Magazine, Sarah delved into all areas of sex from a socio-cultural historic perspective, visiting dominatrixes in their dungeons, uncovering secret sex collections in basements and attics across the world, and crafting a career that can truly be described as that of an Indiana Jones of Sex.
While Sarah traversed this fascinating field, in her personal life she evolved from a twenty something single woman in New York to a wife and mother, an experience of constantly negotiating the misperceptions and assumptions of what it means to work in the field of sex and sexuality. Imagine for a second what it was like telling that stranger in a bar that you're a "Curator of Sex."
When: 3rd of August at 6:30pm
Spaces are limited so booking in advance is essential.
Copies of Sex in the Museum: My Unlikely Career at New York's Most Provocative Museum will be available for purchase on the night.
Escorting us in to the hidden world of sex, illuminating the never-talked-about communities and eccentricities of our sexual subcultures, and telling her own personal story of a decade at The Museum of Sex, Sarah asks readers to grapple with the same questions she did: when it comes to sex, what is good, bad, deviant, normal?
