Hi guys,
We ordered a cock ring from you, but we can't quite figure out how it works. It seems straightforward but I don't feel much clitoral stimulation during sex to be honest. (Certainly no fireworks!) Are we doing something wrong?
Hello!
This is a common question. We don't think you're doing anything wrong - as you say, it's pretty straightforward - but maybe you're not getting the most out of your cock ring yet. Luckily, we have some tips on how to make your penis ring work for you :)
There are two main types of cock rings: Vibrating and non-vibrating ones.
The vibrating ones offer more stimulation for vulva owners, and the non-vibrating ones are more for the person wearing the ring.
Vibrating cock rings are our favourites. These are great for couples where one partner has a clitoris.
The trick is to position the cock ring so the vibrations hits your clit during sex with your partner.
Otherwise, you won't get the benefit of the vibrations. We think this is what might be happening with you.
A cock ring can be worn and used in all sorts of sex positions, but your pleasure pearl needs to be in contact with the vibrating grind pad for it to provide you with pleasure.
Clit-owner-on-top position is best for cock ring sex.
The trick is to get the clit-contact as constant as possible, so grinding tends to be better than bouncing up and down (also easier on your thighs!). Lube up the penis (or dildo), then slide down and angle your vulva against the toy. From here, you can rock back & forth.
Non-vibrating cock rings are more for harder erections than clit-stimulation.
Non-vibrating cock rings have their place during partnered sex too, but there is less in it for you if you need clitoral stimulation to orgasm.
Non-vibrating cock-rings can be helpful for a firmer erection if your man has issues with getting or staying hard.
Many fellas use a penis pump to get hard (and maybe add an inch) and then 'tie it off' with a non-vibrating cock ring. This keeps blood from flowing back into the body, making the erection firmer and more sensitive.
Some non-vibrating rings come with a clit-tickler (see the piccy below) and some without. If your ring is non-vibrating but has a tickler, it can still offer clitoral stimulation. Getting an orgasm from it may take some work, but it's possible.
If your ring is a non-vibrating version without a tickler, we recommend treating yourself to a new one. This kind is for the penis rather than the vulva and won't help you orgasm. It'll make him harder but won't tip you over the edge... Sorry!
Cock & balls rings
Some cock rings have a second ring. This is for the balls.
Many men and penis-owning folk love a tight albeit gentle squeeze on their balls, which the second ring provides. Again, this is for the wearer and won't offer you pleasure.
Once the ring is in place, carefully stretch the second ring as far as it will go without snapping. Then gently place each testicle through the ring one at a time. (Or, even better - let your partner do this part...)
Remove the ring immediately if there is pain or the colour goes too dark (think purple). Cock & ball rings are not for everyone, so let your partner decide if this is something they are happy to experiment with.
How to use a vibrating cock ring for clitoral stimulation
It generally takes women longer to get turned on enough to even get a whiff of orgasm. For this reason, spend lots of time playing and building up before popping the ring onto the dique. The more aroused you are, the better the vibrations will feel - and the likelier those fireworks will come!
Play with the penis to get some blood into it. This can be done with hands or mouth (both!), but we recommend using some water-based lube to make it nice and smooth. Ideally, you want a semi-erection when sliding the cock ring on. Apply a bit of the slippery stuff to the pubes too.
Slide the cock ring down to the base of the penis. It should fit snugly, but not so tight that your man feels claustrophobic. If this happens, you need a bigger-size ring.
Blood flowing into the penis will fill up the erectile cylinders inside the shaft, and his hard-on will feel and look fuller. (Party time!)
Switch on the vibrations and position yourself so your clit touches the grind pad. It'll feel better if you coat your clit, vulva and cock ring pad with lube. This enhances sensations and creates smoother friction (ie no chafing!). Rub and grind your clitoris against the vibrations.
Achy Breaky Penis?
The advice is to never leave a cock ring on for more than 20 minutes, or less if he's starting to get achy. Most male customers laugh when we say this, as intercourse tends to last only a few minutes. But - it's good advice. If it's starting to hurt, remove the ring and kiss the peen better...
We hope this helps!
Best Wishes,
Team Sh! xx
