Renee Reviews our Rachel Kramer Bussel Book Reading...

I first met Rachel Kramer Bussel about 3 years ago. She turned up at Sh!, rather damp as she’d got lost in the rain. We got chatting, and she politely asked if she could do a reading ‘at some point’. I thought that ‘at some point’ might mean 6 months – a year later. As it happens, in New York speak, ‘at some point’ really means 3 years – but anticipation is half the fun, right?
Rachel Kramer Bussell is in the UK to promote the books, Orgasmic , Smooth Erotic Stories for Women, Gotta Have It (69 Stories of Sudden Sex) and Best Bondage Erotica , and I was thrilled to finally have her read in the store. Her very first ever UK reading, none the less!
Along with Rachel, we had top erotica authors and regular Sh! readers; KD Grace, Kay Jaybee and Jaqueline Applebee,
Justine Elyot, Janine Ashbless, Carmel Lockyer may have read at Sh! for the very first time, but somehow I don’t think it’s going to be their last..!

After making a joke about wanting to try out my First Aid mouth-to-mouth skills (I really need to learn how to control my mouth better!), I introduced Rachel Kramer Bussel, who kicked off the evening with a sexy story called ‘Belted’ from Orgasmic.
I noticed I wasn’t the only one nodding in agreement as Rachel describes the arousing sound and feel of a belt…
Next up is KD Grace, who read ‘Muscle Bound’ from Smooth. Disappointingly, I was called upstairs and missed her reading. Instead, I found myself discussing ‘sex furniture’ with a couple hoping to sell me some sort of sex-couch. I know the story tho, and it’s wickedly hot! (FYI: I declined the sex furniture, as I think imagination and a kitchen table is all you need for a great romp!)

As usual, Jacqueline Applebee’s reading technique raises gasps and giggles – the woman is sex on hot pink sofa in a sweaty basement without air con! She read a threesome story from Gotta Have It, ‘Not a Bang but a Whisper’. Again, I missed most of it as I was lacing a woman into a corset on the shop floor. I have it on good authority (well, a whole room-full of people can’t be wrong!) that Jacqueline was amazing.
Kay Jaybee, looking fabulous in a red dress, read ‘The Advantage of Working from Home’ from Gotta Have It. Now, Kay is one of my favourite authors – but I missed her reading too. (For someone so excited about this evening, it seems as if I missed most of it.) Whilst Kay is reading, I’m ringing up toy after erotic toy after erotic toy – the couple I served were clearly hoping for a wicked weekend!

I also missed Carmel Lockyer’s first ever reading at Sh!
Let’s just say it involved two merry couples stomping around the shop with me in hot pursuit. We'll just going to have to invite Carmel for another reading..
I haven’t yet read my copy of Gotta Have It – but I’m looking forward to checking Carmel’s work out!
There was a short break, and somehow I got my bottom spanked by an enthusiastic guest wielding a rose-tipped crop whilst serving bubbly (multi-tasking!) This is not unusual mind, when you have a shop full of various implements and happy, hot shoppers, it stands to reason it’ll sometimes get a bit merry!
As the shop shuts, and the guests are locked in, I actually get to hear Justine Elyot’s story ‘The London O’. And oh my Lord – I found myself considering purchasing a cheeky pair remote vibrating panties … It’s rather hot as it is, and Justine’s story does nothing to cool us down!
[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="200"] Janine Ashbless[/caption]
Janine Ashbless confessed to being a little nervous before her reading, but by the time it was her turn she was confident and sexy, thrilling us with her story ‘The Ingenue’ from Best Bondage Erotica .
Rachel finished off with a delicious story by Heather Linn, before answering questions and signing erotica for guests. Everyone has had a great time, and Rachel is thrilled that so many turned up. Saying that, many who’d booked a space didn’t turn up – naughty!
Amongst the crowd enjoying cupcakes and hot stories were fabulous authors Lucy Felthouse and Victoria Blisse (aka The Northern Birds), the glamorous Rebecca Bond (author) and Parv Roovinder, former Sh! Girl Scarlett French (author), Suraya Sidhu Singh (editor of Filament magazine), up-and-coming author Lexi Bay, burlesque artist and blogger Rubyyy Jones and the one & only Suzanne Portnoy, London-based author of The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker and Huffington Post Columinist

We weren’t quite sure what Rachel’s plans for the rest of the weekend were, so we decided to gift her with a Corset harness, a curved silicone dildo , plus a bottle of our own lovely Sh! Lube – just in case!
Our way of saying a BIG thank you for helping us to create one of the best erotic book reading events we've ever had the pleasure of hosting.
And we hope she feels inspired enough to write a sexy story about her new sex toys - we look forward to reading it, Rachel!
