Friday is Sh!s 19th birthday - so today we're looking back on the beginnings of the UK's best sex shop for women!
Sh! was founded in 1992 by an all-women crew after a chardonnay-emboldeded trip around London’s sex shops had revealed the desperate need for change.  Sex shops back then catered almost exclusively towards men, and stocked maybe a couple of large and phallic vibrators, aimed at men buying for their partners. rather than at women themselves.
With only £700 and a tin of pink paint to invest; the Sh! Girlz' dream was to create an inviting place with clued-up, sensitive staff, where women could shop for good quality erotic playthings without feeling awkward, unwelcome or embarrassed.
With a second shop now open in Portobello and a dedicated behind-the-scenes crew manufacturing great silicone dildos and strap on harnesses, we've come a long way since those early days - and of Friday we'll be celebrating with cup cakes and erotic poetry!  Watch this space for details!
